Writing During the Quarantine

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy inside. I’ve has a surge of productivity while quarantined. Yesterday, I finished plotting the 6th book of The White Series. I have also finished writing about half of the second book, The Shattered Seagull, and hope to have it done by the end of the month. Once it is done I’ll start gathering more ARC readers as well as send it to my editor to start her first pass.

Just wanted to take a minute and thank all of the people who volunteered to read a pre-released pre-edited copy of A New Beginning. I have taken all the feedback and made changes and now the book is getting its final editing done.

The next step is cover creation. I’m working with J Caleb to design the covers for this series. This will be the first I’ve worked with him but he comes highly recommended, and he makes some amazing covers.

Look for A New Beginning to be released May 1st, 2020.

A New Beginning ARC Request

A New Beginning is a LitRPG Lite Fantasy adventure that follows a young warlock named Vexx White who recently dropped out of the local magic academy and his clumsy elf ranger companion named Kaylin. Follow their adventure as they try to prove their worth as dungeoneers.

The story is roughly 55-60k words and reads quickly.

ARC Requests are open through February 29th. Digital copies will be sent out in March. Physical copies will be delayed until May and are limited to US Readers in the continental US. ARC readers who complete the story and provide feedback will be entered to win a $25 Amazon gift card.

A New Beginning

So I have finally decided on a title for my upcoming series “The White Chronicles”. Book One will be called “A New Beginning: A LitRPG Fantasy Adventure”. I’m hoping to wrap up writing by the end of the month at which point it will be off to the editor!

I’ve done some beta swaps with other authors and everyone I have shared the story with has said they LOVE IT. So I am excited to finish up working on this and letting everyone else enjoy it as well.

I am also in talks with a cover designer. I think this will be the limiting factor as they are all soooo busy working on covers for other amazing authors. Because of this I cannot promise a release date just yet.

The Cost To Publish

These days it is very easy to publish. Anyone can take a story they’ve written and post it on Amazon. The barrier to entry is practically zero. If you want any sort of success you’ll need to stand out. This means a good cover, editing, and advertising. Many authors are overwhelmed by all of that and lured by vanity publishers who handle all of that for you for a few grand. In my opinion, authors would be better off spending that money on their own book.

I’m working on two upcoming series and wanted to outline my plans for publishing. The first is a LitRPG-lite style fantasy adventure novel. It is packed with action and humor and doesn’t take itself seriously at all. The other is a more serious Thriller set in Charleston, SC.

I recently saw a post on twitter about a vanity publisher who would publish your work for a small commitment for $2,000. Claiming it would be a partnership. Here’s how I’ll be spending my $2,000 instead.

Covers, I’m working with an artist who charges roughly $600 for an eBook and print cover. Editing, I’m working with a friend whose got years of experience editing and will be taking on the project for roughly $900 and is well worth the money. This will leave me around $500 for advertisements on Amazon. With that I hope to get enough traction for my book to take off. At which point I’ll reinvest my earnings back into more advertisements.
